Roda Sela is een wijn uit Rioja

Roda Sela heeft 12 maanden gerijpt op Frans eikenhout en is een aangename en krachtige rode wijn. Mooie aroma's van rijp rood fruit, eikenhout, mineralen en een vleugje kruiden. De tannines zijn rijp en rond en de afdronk aangenaam.

Uitstekende combinatie met rood vlees, wild, boeuf bourguignon, paté, jamón en harde kazen. Nu al op dronk, maar kan zich tenminste tot 2024 verder ontwikkelen. De optimale drinktemperatuur is 16°C.

"The 2013 Sela, a blend of Tempranillo with some 2% Graciano, fermented in oak vats (including malolactic) and matured in second and third use French oak barrels for one year. They use the barrels that have been used for the top wines to age this entry-level red. It's sourced from 15- to 30-year-old vineyards in search of preserving the fruit, but giving it some complexity. This is a truly cool, Atlantic vintage and the wine displays incredible freshness. It is very aromatic and floral, with very integrated oak. It develops notes of red licorice with time in the glass. The palate is equally fresh and very balanced, with very fine tannins. This is a wine of pleasure in a really fresh vintage that was harvested really late, into the end of October. The first vintage of this wine was 2008, and this 2013 could very well be the best vintage so far."

"I was surprised to see how different the blend for the 2015 Sela was in comparison to the 2014, with a lot more Garnacha (10%) along with 82% Tempranillo and 8% Graciano, as both Garnacha and especially Graciano like warmer vintages. They call 2015 a perfect Mediterranean vintage with perfect ripeness, and in this vintage, they followed the same modus operandi as they did for all the reds, with natural fermentation in French oak vats. In this case, the élevage was in mostly new barriques and lasted 12 months. It's very balsamic, with aromas of Mediterranean herbs, aromatic, open and expressive. The palate is juicy, and there's great balance between fine tannins and acidity, with very clean, focused flavors and with more structure and volume but keeping its poise. One of the best Selas ever."
