Emilio Moro Crianza 2015 75cl

100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo)

The Wine Advocate:

"I tasted two vintages of their eponymous Tempranillo, starting with the 2015 Emilio Moro, from a warm and early-ripening vintage. This bottling was introduced in 1998, as they stopped bottling the Crianza and Reserva under the name. It matured in French and American oak barrels for 12 months. This 2015 is riper, with notes of prunes and great concentration, heady, juicy and chewy. It's a hedonistic Tempranillo with moderate acidity. 700,000 bottles produced. It was bottled starting with March 2017 with weekly batches.

As with many others from Ribera del Duero and elsewhere, Emilio Moro has decided to produce white wine from Godello grapes. As there are not enough white vines in Valdeorras (and even less available), they set their eyes on neighboring Bierzo, the same way Mauro did. They bottled two white wines in 2016 that I included here because I tasted them with the Ribera del Duero wines, but I will also include them in the forthcoming Bierzo article where they should be in their context. As for the reds from Ribera del Duero, 2015 is about concentration, but there's more finesse in the 2016s, a little more in line with 2014, and I believe that's a vintage that is going to age nicely in bottle. I tend to find the younger and less oaky reds more drinkable, and the oak seems to grow as we go up in the portfolio."

    Kwaliteit
