The Wine Advocate:
An amazing achievement in a difficult vintage, the 2002 Calvario, from a southeast-facing, hillside vineyard planted in 1945, is a blend of 90% old vine Tempranillo, 8% Grenache, and 2% Graciano. A big, sweet nose of espresso roast, white chocolate, black cherry liqueur, and cassis jumps from the glass of this smoky, rich, full-bodied effort. With wonderful freshness, nuances, purity, depth, intensity, and definition, it is a beautifully textured wine that should drink well for 10-12 years.
