Het is verbazingwekkend hoe jong de wijn zich nu presenteert en hoe goed het hout in de wijn is geïntegreerd. Complexe, zeer geconcentreerde, donker gekleurde, bijna zwarte wijn. Rijpe bessen, kersen, bramen, prachtige tannines, tabak, mineralen, cacao met een afdronk die niet te evenaren is. Iets aromatischer dan jaargang 1995. Nu al op dronk, zal zich de komende 10 jaar verder ontwikkelen. Tenminste houdbaar tot 2027. Verpakt per 12 stuks in fraaie houten kisten, maar ook los te bestellen. Vega Sicilia zal geen geen Unico 1997 op de markt brengen, omdat dit jaar niet aan de hoge kwaliteitseisen van deze Bodega voldoet. Hierdoor zal de komende tijd een relatieve schaarste aan Vega Sicilia Unico ontstaan. It is just slightly more muted but lovely nonetheless. Already complex both aromatically and on the palate, it has superb materials while appearing to be more structured than the 2004. Opaque purple in color, it emits already complex aromas of smoke, toast, coffee, blueberry, blackberry, and licorice. Lush on the palate, super ripe and sweet, as well as multi-dimensional, this great effort can be drunk now, but I would opt for cellaring it for 6-8 years to allow further evolution. The Wine Advocate: The 2005 Flor de Pingus comes from rented vineyards planted to 100% Tempranillo. The wine spends 14 months in new French oak. Purple-colored, it offers an alluring bouquet of pain grille, crushed stone, violets, black raspberry, and blueberry. Already complex on the palate, it has gobs of sweet fruit, excellent intensity, perfect balance, and a 60-second finish. In the price/quality sweepstakes, this might be Spain’s finest wine.
